The TRU is proud to announcement Classic Wallaby and Super Rugby centurion Mark Gerrard as our first guest speaker for the 90th anniversary celebrations on June 3.

After winning selection for Australian Schools in both 1999 and 2000, Gerrard was the first Australian to be signed straight from school on a Super Rugby contract and debuted for New South Wales in 2002.

He then signed with the ACT Brumbies for the 2003 season and made his club debut against the Sharks in Durban. A year later, Gerrard was the hero in their grand final win, scoring a hat-trick against the Crusaders in Canberra.

Injury delayed higher honours until 2005 when he made his Test debut against Italy in Melbourne.

From there, Gerrard accumulated a total 24 caps (including a Rugby World Cup campaign in 2007) as well as playing and coaching career across Japan and the USA.

An immensely talented utility back with Tongan heritage, Gerrard’s family pedigree includes Australian netball star and sister Mo’onia Gerrard (who subsequently married Wallaby #854 Dave Dennis) and cousin Wycliff Palu (Wallaby #812).

TRU President Shaun Killian said Gerrard’s unique rugby journey and international experience coupled with his deep ties to community sport made him an ideal addition to an event already featuring the likes of Rugby Australia CEO Andy Marinos.

“We’re very excited to have Mark join us for this celebration of rugby – he’s got a brilliant rugby mind and has done it all as a player – so we’re looking forward to hearing his insight,” Killian said.

“We’ll have further announcements regarding Classic Wallaby additions to our VIP list so make sure you secure your 90th anniversary tickets today.”

The 90th anniversary celebrations will be held at the Tasman Room at Wrest Point, Hobart on June 3. Tickets are selling fast - secure yours today viahttps://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=1041231&fbclid=IwAR2nwbRbsbTpDOwD_rM6udP8CJbNM7A0nAhN6kTpzifilgmFpGaDSwgh2CU
