Launceston 1 and Taroona will lock horns this weekend to determine an early men's Premiership favourite while the countdown to junior state rugby has begun in earnest.
Both sides remain unbeaten after six rounds following the Penguins' 62-0 victory over Hobart Lions while the Tigers enjoyed a bye weekend.
Taroona captain Noah Kazarine (17 points) and vice-captain Ed Salter (three tries) led from the front in their 10-try showing to keep pace with Launceston 1 and set up a mouth-watering grand final rematch at Royal Park on Saturday (4pm).
Devonport also found joy in the men's competition, running out 63-26 victors over Hobart Harlequins with Bulls lock Oliver Crawford bagging four tries, while Michael Lovell's 13-point haul helped Glenorchy post an important 38-24 win on the road against Burnie.
Taroona remain unbeaten in the women's competition while merged side UniQueens made a successful return to play with Em Pregnell (three tries), Fiona Anderson and Marli Sherrif (two tries apiece) starring in their 50-15 win over Eastern Suburbs.
In the state-wide junior boys, Patryk Rybak (four tries) shone for Hutchins U16 in a 66-22 victory over Devonport U16 while their respective U18 sides played out a 24-all draw in Sandy Bay.
In representative news, the Australian Schools and Junior Rugby Union (ASJRU) Championships draw has been released with Tasmania set to compete in three divisions of the National Junior Rugby Championships - U16 boys, U16 girls* and U18 boys.
The Tasmanian U16 boys will play four National Junior Rugby Championship games against Brisbane City, Queensland Country, South Australia and the Northern Territory across Wednesday 9 July and Thursday 10 July
The Tasmanian U18s boys have been drawn in Pool A and will play three games in total - two games against pool rivals Northern Territory and NSW Junior Rugby - before a final rankings playoff on Thursday 10 July.
The Tasmanian U16 girls have been drawn in Pool B and will play three games in total - two games against pool rivals Brisbane City and QLD Country - before a final rankings playoff on Thursday 10 July.
