The Tasmanian Rugby Union (TRU) Board met on 9 October 2025 to review key programs, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026.

Key Outcomes and Updates Junior Development: The Board endorsed the 2026–2029 Junior Strategic Plan and approved commencement of recruitment for a 0.8 FTE Junior Development Officer to support statewide participation growth and strengthen club alignment.

Club Development and Health Checks: The Board noted that Club Health Check meetings will be conducted in late October between TRU General Manager Jeff Quick, Rugby Australia’s Club Development Manager Sean Walker, and individual clubs. These meetings will focus on reviewing submitted health check reports, identifying development priorities, and supporting clubs to align with TRU’s competition and participation strategies for 2026.

New Appointment – Competition Manager (Developing States): The Board welcomed the appointment of Fraser Brydon as Competition Manager – Developing States.

Fraser will commence in late October 2025 and will work closely with TRU and Rugby Australia to oversee competition structures, operations, and support delivery across Tasmania and other developing rugby regions.

Rugby Park Concept: The Board reaffirmed its commitment to continue engagement with the City of Hobart and partner sports in progressing the Cornelian Bay multi-sport precinct plan, recognising its potential as a central hub for community and high-performance sport in Tasmania.

Representative and Competition Review: Following a successful 2025 representative season — including strong performances by both men’s and women’s teams — the Board endorsed the continuation and potential expansion of interstate fixtures. A player satisfaction survey will soon be distributed to all representative participants to inform future program improvements.

The Board also reflected on the 2025 Grand Final Day, noting overwhelmingly positive feedback from players, clubs, and invited guests. The day was widely recognised as a fantastic showcase of Tasmanian rugby, with many guests praising the organisation, atmosphere, and presentation of the event. The Board will continue to review community feedback when planning future finals days and extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers, match officials, and clubs for their outstanding contributions.
