In the women's competition, Taroona's 48-22 win over Eastern Suburbs wrapped up top spot with a week remaining - but the Penguins didn't have it all their way.
Easts flyer Mia Mason was superb in a losing outfit, scoring three of her side's four tries to keep the ladder leaders guessing in a sensational performance out wide.
UniQueens' Lolohea Foki also bagged a triple in her team's 34-20 win over Tigers with Claire Griffiths (two) and Rebecca Sweetman (two) among the northerner's best at Royal Park.
Launceston fans did enjoy an earlier thriller with the under 16 Tigers scraping home 15-14 against Eastern Stags.
Stags young gun Zavier Throw scored a double but it wasn't enough as Makkai Kettle, Oscar Davey and Heyns Jacob dotted down to ice the one-point thriller.
Further west, the under 18 boys clash between Bulls and ladder-leaders Hutchins delivered an upset with Bulls producing a 54-22 boilover on home soil.
Fresh from being named in Rugby Australia's under 16 Barbarian squad, Bulls forward Cooper Crowther produced a hat-trick performance alongside Seth Rodruigez (two tries) to stun the visiting Hutchins outfit.
