Welcome to our weekly TRU Women's and Juniors Wrap, proudly supported by TasNetworks!

While Tassie's local juniors enjoyed a well-deserved break following the Southern States tournament in Adelaide, Round 6 of the statewide women's saw Taroona extend their winning streak to five games while Uni-Queens continued their red-hot form

The Penguins put Tigers to the sword at Rugby Park, scoring eight tries to two and emerging 41-10 victors, while Uni-Queens enjoyed a 54-5 win over Glenorchy.

Returning star Georgia Stewart ran in four of Uni-Queens' 10 tries following her stint refereeing at the Southern States Junior Championships, which saw Tasmania rep the green and gold with distinction against Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Though Tasmania failed to win a standalone game across the U14, U16 and U18 boys divisions, there was joy for the state's U18s Barbarians who defeated South Australia 20-10 and 32-0.

Rugby Australia pathways manager Nic Henderson was impressed with the Tasmanian talent on display.

"There were a few players from Tassie that caught my eye. Particularly across that 16s and 18s age group, there's a lot good players and good skill levels," Henderson said.

"It goes to show the importance of our national pathways across Southern States and that's something that should never be overlooked.

"There's a great enthusiasm to run that ball and show that attacking mindset and I really enjoyed the willingness and intent to take collisions and force contact."
