August 27 saw statewide juniors back in action alongside a table-topping clash in the women's competition.

Unbeaten Taroona faced their biggest challenge to date in Sandy Bay with UniQueens desperate to avenge an earlier 29-22 loss in Round 4.

The fierce rivals scored three tries apiece but it was the Penguins who emerged victorious once more, Joy McConnochie's sole conversion proving the difference in a 17-15 thriller.

Across the river, Glenorchy's red-hot form continued with Georgia Sproule spearheading a 81-5 win over Eastern Suburbs.

Sproule's seven-try spree hauled her Does to within striking distance of second-placed UniQueens with two rounds remaining.

In the statewide juniors competitions, Hutchins maintained their perfect under 18 boys season with a tense 17-12 victory over Taroona while Tigers and Eastern Stags picked up maximum points from their under 16 boys fixtures.
